CubaEmprende Project opens registration for a new workshop in July

A new workshop of the CubaEmprende Project will start on July 4, an excellent opportunity for those who are starting their business or are considering the possibility of starting a business in Cuba.

The CubaEmprende Project, which emerged as an idea of the Archbishopric of Havana in 2012, offers training and accompaniment for the Cuban private sector.

The project is a pioneer in the counseling and training of entrepreneurs, the continuous strengthening of the entrepreneurial community and the introduction of corporate social responsibility through its Oasis program.

Next month’s workshop is aimed at training in business management issues for entrepreneurs on the island and is divided into the following modules:

1-Human Development: Aimed at providing essential psychological tools to overcome the challenges of starting a business.

2-Marketing and Management: Entrepreneurs will learn how to design a business project. Emphasizes the importance of understanding the needs, desires and expectations of the market, strategic business planning, and identifying and facing the competition.

3-Accounting and Finance: The purposes of accounting and its fundamental tools are presented, such as financial statements, types of costs, salaries, sales projections, among others. The legal and fiscal aspects of business in Cuba are also discussed.

4-Sales and Customer Services: Provides indispensable tools and knowledge on sales strategy and planning, skills and techniques to communicate and sell better, types of customers and negotiation.

All modules are in accordance with the legislation that regulates self-employment and the operation of small and medium-sized businesses in the country.

At the end, according to the project’s website, entrepreneurs are able to develop a Business Plan, which is structured on the basis of the proposal developed in each of the workshop sessions.

Those enrolled must pay for the course on June 27 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Project’s headquarters in the Padre Felíz Varela Cultural Center, located on Avenida del Puerto and Chacón, Old Havana.

In a decade, Taller Emprende has graduated more than 8,000 people and some 900 businesses have been consolidated with the business services provided by the project, which develops its entrepreneurial support activities based on an intensive teaching method used by the Proempleo Foundation in Mexico.

Currently, most of the island’s successful businesses have been trained in this project. According to data provided by CubaEmprende’s organizers, more than 80 percent of the people who have gone through these workshops manage to keep their businesses running.
