Yannick and Annick Woungly-Massaga are not only twin sisters, they are also Cuban designers. Since they settled in Switzerland a little more than a decade ago, they have worked on several projects in major economic sectors of the European country.
Currently, the sisters are in charge of redesigning the image of the Swiss Guard Veterans Association, as well as the Vatican Army. Their first experience in this project will be for the next general assembly of this organization.
They also organize the “A lo cubano” festival, the first event organized entirely by Cubans to bring together those from the Caribbean island and other nationalities living in Switzerland.
According to what they recently revealed in an interview, the twins consider it essential to rebuild their identity and reconstruct themselves. Therefore, their work during these years has been focused on this purpose.
As creators of the Cuban Designers Around The World project, since 2013 they have promoted everything related to the sector, offering an important space for professional exchange.
Meanwhile, they have collaborated with the watch brand Cuervo y Sobrinos, with the design of a line of watches called Sol y Estrellas (Sun and Stars). This was based on attractive elements of Cuban culture.
“That intense light of Cuba, the possibility of seeing the stars and the horizon, and the hustle and bustle of Havana, were the communicational keys that guided the creation of these watches,” Annick told the aforementioned digital media.
