For many people, the pandemic lockdown meant more than finding oneself again. In the case of Lauren Moriña, it resulted in a creative response, fueled by her desire to offer something positive in the midst of the anguish, as well as her love for the sea and all the emotions that it sparks.
Thus emerged Nerea Bisutería in the midst of COVID-19, a venture specialized in personalized accessories. “Seeking to stand out from the rest, I decided to link the business with the sea, and thus our customers can take with them a memory of it,” Lauren told Negolution.
The initial raw materials came from Spain, with the help of her aunt. Since then, made-to-order requests, friends and even social media groups have fueled the need to continue making anklets, bracelets and necklaces that evoke the sea.
Starting a business in an uncertain daily context has been a major challenge. “How to begin? Is this the right time? Will people like what’s offered?” were the questions this entrepreneur asked herself over and again. However, this same context taught her not to take anything for granted.
Since starting out in April 2021, overcoming obstacles to obtain raw materials while simultaneously continuing her medical studies, have been the key challenges to making this more than a hobby.
To begin with, Nerea Bisutería didn’t have a physical space for sales. With the lifting of the lockdown, several establishments offered to sell the products, which is the situation today. However, Lauren noted that the development of her brand came thanks to the use of social media for sales and communication with customers, who first demonstrated an interest in her products through WhatsApp and Instagram (@nerea_bisuteria21).
“The expectations grow every day in terms of expanding the accessory collections to satisfy the demands of our customers while keeping up with the latest trends,” Lauren noted. She has many ideas and goals to make her venture grow, which represents a dream come true.
