Pixie Curtis or the strange case of the little girl we would have liked to be

If you go back a bit in your childhood memories, you’re sure to find one where you wished you had a little more money of your own to get the parts for your spaceship or just buy, on your own, that candy your parents denied you. To everyone’s surprise, Pixie Curtis has materialized that “memory” at the tender age of 10.

The story behind “Pixie’s Fidgets”

By December 2021, this Australian girl had made headlines around the world. With the help of her mother, Roxy Jacenko, Pixie founded a toy company, with which she will be able to retire, if she wishes, as a millionaire in no less than five years.

Pixie’s Fidgets was launched as a brand in May 2021 and within the first month had already made about 120,000 euros. On the other hand, her mother had previously created the Pixie’s Bows range of hair accessories, when she was just a baby. Today they both form part of the Pixie’s Pix business, of which this little girl is the owner.

But who are the parents of this child?

Roxy started working at McDonalds when she was just 14 years old. Maybe that’s why she believes that entrepreneurship is a great opportunity and intends to teach her daughter the same. However, she told The Sun that as soon as Pixie wishes to take a step back, she will reevaluate the business, but “for now she’s happy, she’s learning a lot.”

It is worth noting that Roxy Jacenko is also a director of the Sydney public relations firm Sweaty Betty and, together with her husband Oliver Curtis, is renowned for her business skills. Who’s to say that their little girl can’t outdo them?

The parallel surge in sales of fidget toys

Fidget toys have become a sales phenomenon, occupying a top place among the toys preferred by children today. The confinement of recent years has made these kinds of objects even more popular.

Going back to childhood memories, you too enjoyed (or enjoy) popping bubbles from plastic wrap, and if your question is what exactly are fidgets toys, well, the answer is simple: toys to relieve stress and anxiety disorders, agitation or boredom. They are used for pleasant activities but not necessarily for cognitive purposes (like plastic bubbles). It is worth mentioning the famous spinners, pop it, blocks, push pop, among many other such toys.

Similarly, hair accessories and other goods targeted at children, such as clothes and shoes, also occupy an important percentage of the total amount of monthly sales of this business.

Social media explosion

One of the most striking aspects that characterizes Pixie is, without a doubt, her entrepreneurial spirit; which has secured her a large number of followers on social media, with around 111,000 on Instagram fundamentally.

This positioning has allowed the little girl to model the products offered by her store, which has become a double-edged sword, as she is the target of the sharpest criticisms regarding the contradictions involved in a girl “working or burning stages,” even if she is having fun.

And while it may seem like a family mission, it’s safe to say that Pixie is not the youngest entrepreneur, as her seven-year-old brother Hunter also owns his own company created by Roxy. The store, which will initially only sell hats, is profiling another small businessman about whom little is known…
