The Se Permuta mi clóset project is promoting activities linked to the different seasons of the year. In accordance with international fashion trends and the launch of new seasonal collections, this is a more sustainable proposal that brings together Cuban entrepreneurs.
Civil engineer Solanch Almanza Valdés, one of its main promoters, tells Negolution that the initiative emerged in 2021, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result of her interest in caring for and safeguarding the environment.
Based on her research, associated with the world of fashion trends, novelties and collections, this young woman designed strategies on education and conscious consumption, adapted to the Cuban reality.
Together with friends, the project transcended social networks and the idea of second-hand clothes exchange parties was launched. The first took place on March 20 last year, and similar events were to come in the following months.
“We receive clothes that people have accumulated in their homes and that they don’t use for various reasons: they no longer fit them or they don’t like them. Many of them are functional, new, and still have their labels on,” she explained.
According to Almanza Valdés, the proposal encourages the concept of circular fashion by rescuing and reusing. In addition, the team has come up with the idea of a bazaar made up of sector businesses and enterprises whose economic activity is linked to environmental care.
“The evolution of Se Permuta mi clóset is constant, no party is like the previous one; they are unique and wonderful experiences. We have learned how to improve them and thanks to the reach and promotion from digital platforms we opened doors in Habana Espacios Creativos,” she argued.
