Although it is never too late to learn how to ride a bicycle, the early years of life are ideal for this activity. With this objective, the Vélo Cuba project recently extended its bike hire to Havana’s Hábitat Park, as part of a pilot test providing bicycles for children.
Located on Calzada Street and the corner of F Street, the site witnessed the joy of those who have recently learned a new activity. Children of different ages were able to enjoy the services that were previously only offered at the Vélo headquarters in Old Havana.
This idea was born from a partnership between both projects, which proposes to maintain a regular space from Thursday to Sunday. The first two days will see the hire offered after school hours and the rest, from ten in the morning to four in the afternoon. The offers include moderate prices according to how long the bikes are used and the equipment is especially intended for this age group.
In addition, one day a week will be set aside for Vélo Cuba instructors to offer classes to children to learn how to ride the bikes. Meanwhile, the program includes recreational activities to be held in the park once a month, a social project which the public has become accustomed to offering mechanics, games and the use of balance bikes for little ones.
