Yaslo Deco and wood crafts

For those who are young, and here we understand 23 years old to be young, entrepreneurship is usually complicated. For those who have loved their craft since childhood, it can mean the achievement of a dream.

“My father is a sculptor and as a child I always enjoyed manual crafts; I would go into his workshop and invent little boats, little bats, I think those were my first steps…”

Bases on that premise, Yaslo Deco was founded in October 2020, as a small carpentry, restoration and interior design project, which seeks to break the mould, and is led by Yassel Lopez, a fourth year student of Physical Culture.

“I started with a pdf catalog of just 3 pages, where I offered minimalist decorative objects, shelves, household utensils, all worked in wood.”

Located in Santo Suárez, in the capital’s Diez de Octubre municipality, the workshop has managed to grow in reach and demand; and although its creator does not yet define it as successful, it is clear that some of the keys are his commitment to non-stop creating, work and improvement.

Wood recycling is one of the most effective and cleanest methods used, because of the many environmental advantages it provides. Although the company is concerned about the perfect finish of the pieces, it also tries to be ecofriendly, and for this purpose it uses recycled raw materials: white pine, cedar, pallets and fibreboard, among others.

In addition, Yassel understands the importante of collaborations and partnerships as turning points on the path of entrepreneurship. On this basis, he has teamed with the ventures Tarecolandia, Karlita’s Kraft, Lulú Deoraciones, Pau Papel, Brizna Papel and Revista Primavera.

Entrepreneurship means much more than starting a new business, it is the opportunity to turn people into more creative, proactive and innovative beings.
