"Zona Quinta or the green fiesta"

World Food Day was one of the motivations for the “Festival Zona Quinta,” held in the Quinta de los Molinos gardens in Havana. An entrepreneurship fair, expo-sale, contests, interactive courses, exchange of experiences, book presentations, participation games and veterinary attention and care for pets formed part of the activities, based on healthy, nutritional and environmentally friendly enterprise.

The event is now in its fourth edition and is coordinated, among other entities, by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Program.

Raising public awareness of the importance of family farming and small farmers is one of the FAO’s fundamental objectives. This space served to promote these objectives in the company of about twenty enterprises that promote healthy eating. Such is the case of Deshidratados Habana, Natyva and Innova.

There was also a space for the sale of ornamental plants and succulents. On the other hand, other small businesses offered their products related to costume jewelry, textile confections, crochet works and articles for children.

Likewise, the doctors and specialists of the Quinta’s Veterinary Clinic offered a system of general clinical examination, ear cleaning and nail clipping for pets.

“It’s the nicest birthday I’ve ever been to, I played a lot and look, they painted me like a butterfly,” said four-year-old Amelia, one of the attendees of the event.
