Excelencias del Motor organizes first Clean Mobility Route in Havana

Several electric motorcycle clubs in Cuba are committed to clean mobility. On January 25, Excelencias del Motor magazine hosted the first route devoted to this sector. Motorcyclists rode in a caravan from the Lenin and Monte Barreto Ecological parks to Metropolitan Park, where they undertook environmental activities.
The four main electric motorcycle clubs in the capital participated in the activity: Moto Eléctrica Cuba (MEC), Club Me, Club Racing Moto E and club Alto Voltaje Cuba.
This was not the first time that these clubs have organized ecological activities to highlight the cleanliness of parks and beaches. The first initiative of the MEC club was the cleaning of the Quibú River mouth, with the participation of the local community.
“A few years back, there were no organizations in Cuba that really focused on environmental protection, but now many things are being done in this regard. We are calling on people to become aware of the importance of preserving the space in which we live,” explains Osdany Fleites Núñez, MEC president.
The day was dedicated to care of the environment and avoiding traffic accidents, two campaigns that Excelencias del Motor and its collaborators are promoting. The activities were focused on tree planting, solid waste collection, a show of electric vehicles, skills and road safety tests, among others, all designed to include families.
The event also offered an occasion to showcase the diversity of the electric vehicles that exist in Cuba. State water company, Aguas de La Habana, also joined the privately-organized initiative, committed to a healthier environment. Meanwhile, Excelencias del Motor took the opportunity, once again, to organize recreational activities linked to compliance with the Road and Traffic Code.
